Gettysburg

Our very first overnight RV trip was to Gettysburg, PA!     We took only one night to test all of the things we got for the RV & to make a list of things we may have forgotten. i.e. I forgot the condiments.... We learned that we should make a RV trip checklist for each adventure. Though most of the normal RV stuff we keep in it, we still need to make sure we have the things we use in our everyday life. Planning meals, checking the weather for appropriate clothing & bringing only the stuff needed during that timeframe for the children's schoolwork are some of the things I do before we head off. I'm working on the checklist but as soon as I am done, I will share it with you in our next post. Gettysburg Campground was lovely! We had a spot right by the creek which was a hit for the kids. We have planned to return & stay longer to enjoy the surrounding area, as well as the campground again. Bring extra clothes! Nothing is more enjoyable as a pare...

Antelope Canyon

Let me start out by saying, sorry this is late...    Those of you who have been following along may have seen a pattern. I was trying to get them out to you every Wednesday but because we were in Gettysburg for a couple days it was postponed to today. The WiFi was a bit spotty while out & about anyway but more on that later. Antelope Canyon- one of the most coolest places I've ever been! Since we had stayed overnight in St. George, UT, we were about 2.75 hours away from the canyon. We took a tour into Lower Antelope Canyon . Upon arrival we had to check-in & wait for our assigned timeframe to head into the canyon. It being about 5 years ago, I don't remember exactly how long the walk was but when we got to the canyon we had to climb down steps & ladders to get into the canyon. Once down in the cave, the colors & views were AMAZING!!  Our guide was so fun & would tell us when to get ready to take cool pictures. He would as...

Utah

Utah is a beautiful state that I could have stayed & lived in. Every waking moment was a new adventure with different views all along the way. At some points of the trip we didn’t have cell service or the radio. We found ourselves driving around, top down, singing, talking & trying to catch any satellite radio we could. A very freeing feeling to be disconnected & just be able to enjoy each other & the earth’s beauty that much more.  We left our hotel in Las Vegas & headed to  Zion National Park . It was about a three hour drive. When we got there we went into the visitors center, got a map & another stamp in our  National Park Passport . One of my favorite things we’ve done for us & our kids is the NP Passport! George & I have one together but the kids each have one of their own. We plan some of our trips based on National Park locations because we collect passport stamps. The other thing we collect from our travels ...

Grand Canyon

On our way to Las Vegas we took a detour to the Hoover Dam. We walked along the bridge that put us in both Nevada & Arizona within one stride. I’m not much of a history buff, but I do like to see things I  learned  about in school. A few days later we took a tour from Vegas to the  Grand Canyon ! It was a bus ride to the West Rim, then a helicopter ride to the bottom of the canyon & then a pontoon ride along the Colorado River. If you do nothing else, TAKE THE HELICOPTER RIDE!! It was so cool to see the canyon up so close & to feel like you were going into a whole new world. The pontoon ride was pretty cool too. It was a little bit of a hike to the dock— which I enjoyed. Pretty much the whole time we were down there I was in awe of God’s beautiful creation! Then they took us back up just in time for a crazy rainstorm. We had lunch under a tent & when it finally let up a bit we hike up Guano Point. Being that it...
